Promoting the Educational Success of Children and Youth Learning English Webinar

Co-founder of Understanding Language, Kenji Hakuta, contributed to a panel discussion on November 18, 2021 to discuss how the 2017 National Academies report, "Promoting the Educational Success of Children and Youth Learning English" has already influenced relevant federal, state, and district policies and how it can inform current policy discussions.


Effectively educating young children and K-12 students who are learning English is a national imperative with consequences for individuals and for American society. The 2017 National Academies report examines how evidence from research on human development from birth to age 21 can inform education and health policies and related practices that can support better educational outcomes for children and youth learning English.
